How To: A Braid Within a Braid…

29 Sep

Hello lovelies,

Like always I’ll start off topic and say I think Sundays are my blogging days,  just because it’s a bit of a lazy day and I actually have time to sit down, take some photos, and write. I will blog at other times but I’ve got into a bit of a habit of Sundays, so it’ll probably stay like that. Next, a very huge, monstrous hug and happy jig from me because I am past my 100 followers target, which was a nice surprise for me when I logged on today, slowly and surely I’m getting there and now I have enough of you to fill a Topshop or maybe 2 Boots shops reading my blog. So thank you, I love you guys!

Normally I’m a pretty boring person when it comes to my hair as I actually have no idea what to do with it to make it look nice. I tend to have 3 hairstyles I stick to because my hair is curly, thick and generally not easy to work with which are a side braid, my hair just down, or a messy bun. I wouldn’t say I really like any loads but I’m still on a lookout for a tutorial that isn’t just for people with perfect hair. But when I was on Tumblr I saw someone had done their hair in a simple side braid but put another braid inside of that, so then I decided to give it a go to see how it’s done. Because my hair is thicker than the person in the picture, the inside braid is not as good but here’s my interpretation for you to try out too.

1. Sweep your hair over to one side

Ignore the dark bags under my eyes at the moment.

Ignore the dark bags under my eyes at the moment.

I put my hair over the left side, just because that’s what I do and because I have a side parting, the most of my hair is on the left side of my head anyway. I put some bobby pins at the back just to hold it to the side and to stop the hair falling forward.

2. Split your hair into 3 parts

Oh' look how happy I am splitting my hair in 3 parts.

Oh’ look how happy I am splitting my hair in 3 parts.

Split the hair into 3 parts like you would do to do a simple braid.

3. Take the middle part hair and braid it

Things are getting technical

Things are getting technical

Take the middle part of the hair and braid it, pulling it tight so that it’s neater for later on and it doesn’t fall apart. Also make sure you don’t catch any other bits of hair because then it won’t braid neatly.

4. Secure the small braid in place with a bobby pin or hair band

5. Braid all the hair

Et voilà!

Hope you all liked my tutorial on a new take on a basic side braid and will be giving it a go. Very soon I’ll be putting up a post about a giveaway I’ll be doing soon to see what you’d prefer, so if you aren’t following all ready, give me a follow!

See you soon beauties

I Believe in Pink…

23 Sep

Hello my lovely lot,

Hope you are all okay? Firstly I’d like to say yes, I am still alive, well and blogging, it’s just that I’m currently under a massive mountain of revision and school work, but when I get this week done and dusted I will be on here a lot more I promise. Also I am one away from 100 followers and a give away, so if you aren’t following me right now, please do! When I reach 100 followers I’ll do a post about different give away ideas to see which one you’d all prefer to have and enter, which is very exciting so keep checking the blog for more information on that. Also I got into my school dance company, but I don’t want to mumble on too long like always!

So pink has always been my colour, ever since I was 3 I used to dress myself in head to toe pink and Barbie was my fashion inspiration. I guess I’ve always been a girly girl so that’s why I’ve always loved pink, so when I heard pink was actually on trend at the moment I was beyond excited because now I could wear it and look on trend without going for the Barbie Doll look on a 15 year old girl. Of course Miss Audrey Hepburn also believed in the powers of pink, along with other pink patrons such as Elle Woods, Angelina Ballerina and Regina George to name a few. 😉

After hearing this very exciting news I did a bit of online shopping to find my favourite pink items on the high street (I’m called High Street Spy for a reason) and edited a little collage of them for you to have a snoop at. I also looking for some celebrities for a bit of fashion inspiration, as well as some snaps from London fashion Week. Enjoy.

My favourite pink pieces out there…

Why not add a little bit of pink to your wardrobe this season? Also remember to follow my blog if you don’t already do so because then a give away will be coming your way very soon, and I know you’ll all want to enter.

Remember, on Wednesdays we wear pink.

See you all very soon,

My Autumn/ Winter Beauty Wish List…

17 Sep

Hello everyone,

Firstly I want to say sorry for being away from blogging for what seemed like forever. I’ve just been so busy with school work and extra work. I also did my first ever inter-foundation ballet class on Friday, which was sort of a trial class to see if I could keep up and guess what? She said she would happily have me in that class, which is pretty amazing because I’ve haven’t been ballet trained for over 10 years! Anyway, I went completely off topic as per usual!

I’ve had my eye on a few different beauty products and I thought I’d show you my wish list of beauty products for the next few months so I decided to do it for Autumn and Winter as it’ll take me a long time to even have the money to afford half of these products. You guys saw my summer haul so you will probably understand the reason I have no money!

wishlist

1. Maybelline Baby Lips

Okay, I will be getting these, there is no chance that I’m not because I’ve been waiting for these to arrive in the UK for over a year now and finally I can get them! I first saw them advertised in Teen Vogue about a year ago and then I realised that they were only available in America, so I just left it because the majority of make-up things I like are never available here. Then so many bloggers started raving about them and I wanted to get my hands on them and try them out for myself and now the wait is over! That is why it is my no.1 on my wish list for the next few months.

2. One Direction Our Moment Perfume

So I may be a little bit obsessed with One Direction and they could bring out a tissue line and I’d buy it but this perfume is just perfect. It has such a pretty bottle (pink has always been my signature colour) and I do really want a new perfume. It is quite expensive for the larger bottle, so I think this one is going to be going down on my Christmas/ birthday list.

3. Benefit Porefessional Primer

I’ve seen so many bloggers rave about this primer and I never really understood if primers really made a difference to the look of your skin. But when I was in Debenhams a few weeks ago I went to the Benefit counter and ended up trying it on my hand, over the top of a birth mark I have on my hand that is darker and it completely evened that out. It also made my skin look flawless, even and generally perfect, it made such a difference to my hand, imagine what it would do to your face!

4.  Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lip Crayon

A lot of the products I buy is because I’ve seen other bloggers raving about them so I want to join in with the excitement, and I have had my eye on these crayons for a little while now. I love oranges at the moment and they do have an orange in the range so I will be picking up an orange toned colour when I get round to buying one. I do own the Clinique Chubby Stick, and I go through stages of liking it, because you have to have completely uncracked lips for it to look good and it dries out pretty quickly, so I’ve heard this is the better version of the chubby stick so I am very excited.

5. Sleek I Divine Shadow Oh So Special

About a year ago I was really eye shadow mad, I used to wear them everyday but then I got into eyeliner and packed away my brown and neutral eye shadows. But then so many bloggers look really great wearing eye shadow and like always I’d love to jump on the eye shadow bandwagon. If I had a few more 0s  in my bank account I would own a few MAC palettes by now but then in Superdrug I came across this new brand called Sleek and they are basically the cheap alternative to MAC. I have my eye on this palette which will help me experiment more with eye shadows and it’s only £10!

6. Models Own Eyelash Curler

I’m not really sure why I want an eyelash curler, I just think it’s something that I can add to my make-up back essentials and give my eyelashes a bit of a boost. I’m not sure what eyelash curlers are considered the best but I picked models own because 1) I own their brushes they are such a bargain and 2) they’re pink!

7. Sleek Contour Kit Medium

I have quite a baby face, which means it’s chubby and I have dimples, so contouring has always fascinated me ever since Kim Kardashian revealed how her make-up is done. I’m not sure how easy contouring is to do and if it will make my face more shapely but I’m willing to give it a go. Once again I’ve picked my MAC alternative Sleek. (If you don’t know about Sleek, go into Superdrug ASAP and check them out!)

8. Rimmel Stay Matt Foundation

I really need a new foundation as at the moment I’m mixing my darker BB cream with an ivory foundation because I’m currently in between these colours. I do have quite oily skin and I do get shiny during school, so this foundation really appeals to me. You also don’t have to use a lot of it so you don’t get that ‘cakey’ and a more natural look.

9. Rimmel Scandal Eyes Thick and Thin Eyeliner

At the moment I’m going through a bit of an eyeliner addiction and I like to try out everything from gel, to liquid, to pencil and at the moment I tried out a felt tip style one. The only reason this one appealed to me is because you can make it thin for an everyday look and thicker for a more dramatic eye look and that is the only justification I have. (he he!)

As I’m writing this I’m all wrapped up, feeling a little sorry for myself because I’m poorly! But the only benefit you have from me being off school is that I had time to finish off this post and also I have time to work on more!

See you all soon lovelies!

My inspiration…

8 Sep

Hello beauties,

The other day I was watching Breakfast at Tiffanys for the first proper time in my life (I know but I’m only 15) and even though it was a pretty long film, I completely feel in love with the film and Audrey Hepburn.

My new favourite film, Breakfast at Tiffanys

I’d admired Audrey Hepburn for a while now, more for the way she looked because you always see her picture around but I’d never seen a whole film with here in before but she was more of a face to me than an actress. I thought Breakfast at Tiffany was going to be a really old film that I wouldn’t understand but I was so surprised how modern the film seemed and also how Audrey acted too. She isn’t just a very pretty face.

I just can't get over how beautiful she is.

I just can’t get over how beautiful she is.

I guess I feel I can connect to her in a way, not only do we both have really dark big eyebrows, but she’s just independent and is clever and has gone out there and got exactly what she wanted. In my opinion she’s an inspiration for women. Audrey Hepburn will always be remembered, she wasn’t an actress who had 5 minutes of fame, and ended up disappearing or on Big Brother (yes, I know that wasn’t around in those days but it happens now days) she made a name for herself, and worked hard to earn that name and made herself an icon and an amazingly pretty one at that.

Audrey

Touching up her lipstick in a completely classic and gorgeous outfit

I’m not saying I want to be an icon like her and be remembered by everyone in the whole world, but I do want to be something, not just disappear into the background, I want to be remembered for something, and when I find out what it is, I’ll let you all know! 😉 My dad said to me recently, ‘Whatever you do with your life, make sure it makes a difference to the world in some way.’

tabbycakey:Audrey Hepburn en pointe

Miss Hepburn messing around en pointe! Reminds me of myself a bit 😉

So from now on I’m going to Audrey Hepburn my way through life, wide eyed, big eyebrowed and making myself known. Touching up my make-up as I go, just like Audrey does, oh’ and occasionally muck about on pointe and pretend I can really do ballet en pointe. (Bet you’re glad to hear that Lauren! So if that is a bit cryptic if you don’t know about Lauren, but she’ll know what I’m talking about.)

Before the summer holidays, I went to the careers adviser, and I ended up being there for 2 hours when the appointment was only 40 minutes or so, and that was because she was the first person who actually didn’t question me or what I wanted to do, and I put that down to her knowing. I told her I really wanted to be a blogger, and she didn’t go ‘that’s not a job’ or ‘can you really earn money from that?’ She agreed and told me to ignore what everyone says because it’s my life and I don’t want to stay living in my small town anyway, and the people who judge me now for writing a blog, won’t be laughing anymore when I’m successful.

‘Nothing is fun about being in the wings when you have the chance to be in the spotlight.’

“Happy GIRLS are the PRETTIEST!” – Audrey Hepburn

So that is why Audrey Hepburn is my inspiration because even though she is one of the prettiest women the world has ever know, that never mattered, she believed in smiles and all women having beauty and she did very much make a difference to the world.

Oh and also, you see that picture above? That iconic look from Breakfast at Tiffanys? Well I’m working on a make-up tutorial for that look, so watch this space because I’m really looking forward to recreating it!

Who inspires you?

See you all soon,

Tutorial: Everyday Drug Store Natural Smokey Eye in 10 Steps…

7 Sep

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all excited as I am because this is my first ever tutorial, even though I do went to go into YouTube, I haven’t really had time to sit down and make another video but I really want to get a new editing software, because movie maker is really pants and even though my camera film quality is really good, it turns it rubbishy. But I thought I’d try and write a tutorial instead, so I hope you all like it and try it out, as I really like it and have this look on currently. This summer was a really crazy when it comes to High Street Spy as it got pretty popular and I’m so close to 100 followers and I’m beyond excited, but at the moment it’s gone a bit cold on recent blog posts, (sniff sniff) so if you’re reading this, please give it a like, just so I know you are and I can check out your blog too!

Anyway, I was a big lover of eye shadow a few months ago but sort of went off it as it took quite a long time to do and I just wanted to do my make-up quickly and without much fuss. Then I was watch Tanya Burr’s tutorials and realised what an effect eye shadow has on a look and how it really opens up your eyes, so I decided to try it out. If you know me, you will probably be guess that I will be using drug store make-up to do this but also I’ll describe the colour because you might have eye shadows that look really similar. This tutorial is completely high end and expensive make-up free! Also you can make the smokiness of the look darker, but I tend to wear it less dark so it’s more of an everyday look like I do. If you want to create look below (excuse my face) just follow my simple steps!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

1. Prep your skin

Making the perfect base

Making the perfect base

Just like cooking, preparation is key to a good finish, what I do is use Simple Hydration moisturiser to make sure I have no dry skin that make-up will cling to and I also use tweezers to get rid of any stray hairs on my mad eyebrows. If you are going to use tweezers to do your eyebrows, remember that over plucking can stop hair growth and no to take anything from the shape and leave that to the beautheripists.

2. Concealer

I dab concealer round my nose and under my eyes

I dab concealer round my nose and under my eyes

Personally, I like to put on my concealer first before putting on my foundation or BB Cream, just because I feel it’s easier to blend the concealer in first but it’s really up to you what you’d rather do first. I put concealer on any blemishes, round my nose to reduce the redress and round my eyes, dabbing it in a sort of triangle shape. I was watching QVC beauty and the make-up artist said to dab concealer in a triangle shape because they darkness under your eye does actually extend downwards. So after you’ve dabbed in a triangle shape, work it upwards and it really freshens up your face. If you have no blemishes I think that everyone should try it under the eyes to really brighten up the appearance of your whole skin.

My concealer of choice

My concealer of choice

The concealer I use is Collection (was Collection 2000) Lasting Perfection Concealer, which is my favourite one, I’m on my second one now and almost finished that one. The colour really matches my skin, gives great coverage and lasts a long time, which is great if you are just wearing concealer.  This concealer is really low in price but you can just use whatever concealer you have or whatever is your favourite.

3. Foundation (Or BB cream in my case)

My very loved product

My very loved product

As I was actually writing this post mum just came back with a new No.7 BB cream, and I must of gone through about 3 of these now so I do really love this product during the summer months because I buy this in a medium for when I’m more tanned. This a really light product and it really easily blends into your neck. If you have great skin anyway, you can skip this step out but there’s not much I can say about this. I don’t use a brush when I do this step because I feel it takes to long to blend it all in but also it takes forever to wash the brushes, but do whatever floats your brush.

4. Inner corner eye shadow

White/ creamy shimmer eye shadow

White/ creamy shimmer eye shadow

I used a white/ creamy shimmer eye shadow from my Rimmel London Quad in the inner corners of the eye but also on the insides of the eye. Putting it there will widen the eyes and be the first step in creating the smoky eyed look but also gives a natural look to it. I think the best shadow to use for this is one that has a shimmer to it instead of matt as it really widens the eyes. I used a sponge applicator to apply this as I just needed to dab it into the eye slightly, only working it a little way.

5. Outer eye shadow

The outer eye shadow colour, dark brown shimmer

The outer eye shadow colour, dark brown shimmer

I used a eye shadow brush from Models Own to blend this dark brown into the outers of my eyes, blending it up and into the crease of the eye, then I went over with a clean blending brush from Models Own, just to blend the two colours together and make sure it’s all even on both eyes. If you don’t have a brush, just use a clean sponge but make sure you blend it into the light colour that may be a little harder but it can be done.

6. Eyeliner

The liquid eyeliner I used

The liquid eyeliner I used

I used liquid eyeliner to create a very thin line as I wanted to create more of an everyday look. You can use gel or liquid (I used Miss Sporty, Studio Lash Liner) but I find using pencil over shadow a bit hard and seems to collect the eye shadow along the lash line.

8. Eyebrows

Eyebrow hero

I fill in my eyebrows just because they are a bit sparse at the moment and just to darken them a bit but you don’t have to do it. Eyebrows are big (literally) at the moment and really help frame your face. I use a L’Oreal Super Liner, that has the colour, a wax and brush.

9. Powder and lips

Gives a perfect matt finish

Gives a perfect matt finish

Powder gives a perfect Matt finish, cover blemishes and brushes away any shadow that has fallen from your eyes, so I do this step at the end. I use a Models Own powder brush and L’Oreal True Match Powder. Also apply any lip products if you feel you need it but I didn’t.

My Super Big Summer Haul…

6 Sep

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you’ve had a good week and if you’re back to school, it’s not going completely terrible and you can have a nice lie in tomorrow just like I will be!

Okay, so now summer if sort of officially over that makes me very sad but also kind of excited for crisp cold mornings, hot chocolate, Christmas and of course my 16th birthday, I probably won’t be doing anything like you see on my Super Sweet 16 but oh’ well, it’s a milestone right? But anyway I thought seeing that I’ve done way more shopping than I really should have and haven’t done a haul in a while, now is the perfect opportunity to throw everything together and let you all have a nosey.

New Look Shorts

Aztec influenced not so hot, hot pants.

Aztec influenced not so hot, hot pants.

Okay, so even though these shorts say that they are ‘hotpant’ style on the label, they really aren’t that hot, and by hot I mean butt skimmers or completely letting the butt be free, which I feel is never a great look. These have a lose fit to them, and they have a sort of distressed look, which I really liked in them. I brought these right at the start of the summer holiday because they zip of my favourite shorts had broken but I think I prefer these to them as they were pretty tight. I didn’t wear these a lot when I was out with other people because I felt a bit self conscious, especially when I sit down. (Hope I’m not the only one!) But I think these will see my through Autumn and Winter as they’ll look cute with tights and a big snuggly jumper.

New Look Dress

One of my favourite summer pieces

One of my favourite summer pieces

If you’re a regular blog reader of mine, you will probably recognise this dress because I wore it in a recent OOTD, which you can read here. This has been one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe this summer since I brought it and I’ve worn it to death with different accessories because it’s such a versatile dress, you can make it look super casual or a bit more dressy which I love. It was only £9.99, so I have definatly got my moneys worth, I hope I can wear this when it gets a bit colder but I’m not sure if this will go with tights, I’ll have to try that one out.

Waterstone Notebook

I'm currently drowning in notebooks

I’m currently drowning in notebooks

Did I need this notebook? No. Did I buy it anyway because it was really cute and 99p? Yes. If you know me you would know I have two stationary obsessions which are notebooks and Post-It Notes. Both of these things I can’t live without, because you never know when you need to write a list or make a memo or note. Every time I see a cute note book or a funky post it note design I end up buying it even though I really don’t need them, I should really only buy new ones when I’ve run out of room in my last one. Currently I probably have about 3 or 4 notebooks on the go, but I decided to make this my blogging notebook, where I can write down future post ideas and lists of things that I’ve brought so I won’t forget them and it’s right next to me whilst I’m writing this, so this notebook actually has a purpose to it.

Maybelline Mascara

My everyday mascara

My everyday mascara

I originally purchased Maybelline’s Volume Express, Falsies Look mascara but in mega black, even though I liked the look it gave, it was impossible to get off, I used to have to scrub it with a wipe to get it off and wake up with panda eyes, so it ended up at the back of my make-up draw. But I really wanted a waterproof mascara, so I thought why not get the exact same one in waterproof and also just in the normal black that will hopefully not be completely impossible to get off at night and I haven’t been disappointed by it. It does give a false look and it is still really black, but does come off easily. I really like the scooped wand as it makes sure all your lashes are covered and makes them really long, it also doesn’t clump too much. Me and my eyes are very happy and smudge less, so I really recommend getting this if your looking for a waterproof mascara.

Boots Bobby Pins

Where are you little guys?

Where are you little guys?

One day I think I’ll find a massive pile of bobby pins I’ve lost someone and I will solve the mystery of the disappearing bobby pins that I think we all suffer with. I brought these a few weeks back and I think about half have already joined that secret supply of them somewhere in my room. There’s not really much to say about these but they are really good bobby pins, but they’re just brown bobby pins.

Primark Bag

Vintage is my favourite thing

Vintage is my favourite thing

This is officially the best Primark Purchase I have ever brought in the whole wide world. Please take a minute to admire this bag, well done Primark, you have made a thing of beauty. I never really look at Primark bags because I don’t really think they’re that nice most of the time but then I saw this and knew I just had to have it because I feel in love. I needed a brown bag to match my sandals and vintage is my favourite look so this was just perfect with the rose gold bow detail, and the rose gold rim around the bottom. It’s actually quite a roomy bag, even thought it doesn’t have a phone pocket which is a downside, it does have a large pocket at the back that I normally put make-up in. I love the envelope style and for a tiny amount of money, it is a real steal.

Topshop Necklace

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’ve been loving statement necklaces for a while now and really wanted a versatile one that would dress up an outfit that would go with most outfits. I was originally going to buy one from New Look, but decided to look around in TopShop first because I love their jewellery and I came across this distressed gold necklace. I really wanted it to dress up my New Look dress (seen above) I’ve worn it so much and goes so well with that dress, and it was also in the sale too. (Bonus)

Collection Eyeliner

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A close up shot

A close up shot

I was really looking forward to buying a felt tip style eyeliner because I thought it would mean I could get the liquid/ gel effect but quicker and less effort involved, but this really disappointed me and I learnt, never to trust my cousin’s recommendation of eyeliners again because this was really bad. It was so much harder to apply than I had imagined and after a day wearing it I had black smudges under my eyes which I really hate. I can’t live without my lasting perfection concealer but unfortunately this was not such a brilliant product from Collection.

Models Own Travel Brush Collection

Neon. oooooh' how on trend.

Neon. oooooh’ how on trend.

These are my first proper brushes, so I’m slowly making my way into having a serious make-up collection. The brush I’ve used the most is the powder brush just because it’s what I use everyday, but I’m so excited to start doing smokey eye shadow again so I can use the eyeshadow brush and blending brush, but there’s also a lip liner brush and angled brush in there too. I love the neon colour to them and the bristles are so soft and don’t come off on your face, which I’ve experienced with old make-up brushes I have causing me to have a hairy face. If your a teen like me, who wants to get into make-up brushes, I really recommend buying this set, as it has everything you need for a bargain price of £10.

Ted Baker Wash Bag

I can't believe I own one of these. Am I a blogger now?

I can’t believe I own one of these. Am I a blogger now?

Shut the front door! Maisie owns a TED BAKER WASH BAG!!!! I believe I actually brought this, and for £17. It is very real. I found it  at the Ted Baker outlet shop which is one of my favourite brands at the moment because everything is just so beautiful. As soon as I saw this on the shelf I just knew I couldn’t leave without it, I just needed it and I brought it. I got it in black with a white bow so it matches the large Ted Baker bag I have which is my favourite bag in the whole wide world and I can’t wait to start using this to put my make-up in.

Jack Wills Boyfriend Fit Shirt

I'm off to cut down some trees

I’m off to cut down some trees

A pheasant. How posh.

A pheasant. How posh.

I love the ‘Jack Wills’ look, and recently I got rid of my only shirt recently because it never really fit me and really wanted one for winter, so I got this really soft boyfriend shirt. (Even though I don’t have a boyfriend to give me there shirt) This will have to do, and I can pretend I do! It’s a bit pinky, which of course is my signature colour and I can’t wait until it’s cold enough I can start wearing this snuggly shirt.

Marie Claire in French

Mode.

Mode.

You might be a bit confused because I’m British, not French, but I read Marie Claire in French because according to my French teacher it will help improve my French because I will understand sentence structure better. I don’t think that is really happened but I do enjoy reading a fashion magazine in French because it’s interesting to compare the French culture to British and American ones, such as advertising and also how fashion differs in France and the rest of Europe. The majority of the stuff is pretty similar but I did find it weird seeing a picture of someone smoking in a fashion magazine that wasn’t about the negative affects of them like it would be here. Even if you know literally no French at all it is not hard to pick up what they’re talking about and also the glossy pictures always help.

I hope you’ve all had a lovely summer and enjoyed snooping at my recent purchases. Please follow me if you haven’t already and I will follow you back (and do a happy dance in celebration!)

Every wondered what ‘Because you’re worth it’ is in French? Wonder no longer! People are very impressed when you know this term, promise. You learn something everyday.

Wonder no longer.

Wonder no longer.

Have a lovely weekend lovely lot

My Trip to Cornwall (A.K.A My Happy Place)…

Hello beauties,

So I’m going back to school in just over 2 day (boo) and I want to try and blog once or twice more just before I have to crack down on work and blogs will become less regular because of that. Wish things didn’t have to be that way but that’s just the way it is folks! (Another reminder that at 100 followers there will be a give away and that is getting ever closer so yay! Get following!)

If you’ve read my previous post (if you haven’t, please do) you will know I’ve been to Cornwall again with my family for our regularly yearly trip in a caravan. Also before we get too far into the post, I must inform you that this will be a very photo heavy post so be prepared for some scrolling and admiring, so if you’re feeling a little peckish go grab a snack, maybe a rich tea or some pringles? Oh’ and it may get a little deep, so pop on your snorkel while you’re at it! Enjoy!

So even though I’ve gone to Cornwall a over 4 times now, this time did seem a little different. Normally after a week stuck in a very confined space with my family I’m more than happy to get back home but on the last few days I began to get really sad and really didn’t want to leave, even though it would mean sleeping on a really skinny bed. (Why can’t caravans just have normal width beds, I will never know?) Not only would I miss the very attractive surf instructor who I had a nice bit of harmless flirting with, I would also just miss that place in general. The beach, the sun, the smells, knowing I was completely free with nothing to worry about. I made sure I’d done all my homework before I left and all I took with me was a notebook and a magazine in French. (And clothes of course, I didn’t go noody the whole time.)

What? There's a surfer there? Oh' I didn't notice, I took it for artist purposes only. Promise.

I was nice not having to think about stuff or stress about exams and homework and just chill out and admire the beautiful surfers and that is why I didn’t want to come home.

I’m in love…

On the night before we left, me and mum took a walk along the headland around where I was staying and even though I was happy, I was hit with sadness and I wanted to just sit on the beach looking out to sea because I knew it was going to be to the last time I was going to be there in over a year due to revising and also the last time I was going to be there without the stress and worry of exams. Which is beyond scary and really weird all at the same time.

I also realised I wasn’t a child anymore, even though I act like one when I’m on holiday and still like to act like a child I knew I’m not one. In a few months I turn 16, which just seems so old to me, like a really massive leap for me. Like I really am a teenager now, no turning back. At 16 you can have a big party and do other stuff… We won’t go into that but you get my drift. Then in a year I can drive. What? That just seems mad to me. Really crazy. It seems like yesterday that I was in year 4, playing games with my friends in the playground and the idea of being 16 seemed so old and exciting, and also so far away. But it really wasn’t. I was excited for make-up, and the floods of boys wanting to date me left right and centre (Disney channel makes it seem that dating is the easiest thing in the world, so wrong Disney. Very wrong) and parties, but truthfully is really is a big pain in the bottom.

Don't look down!

(Take your snorkel off now, you’re out of the deep!) So when I was in Cornwall I achieved something that I will add to the not real list of things I’ve achieved this summer, which was. I surfed. Yes, I stood up on the surf board and I really, really surfed the whole wave. Well yeah it only happened once, but after about 4 surf lessons I finally was successful! Then I stood up a few times for shorter periods of times but I was so happy and my surf instructor gave me a cheeky cheer and a thumbs up (eeeeek!)

So that was my very thoughtful trip to Cornwall along side some of my favourite pictures I took (I had to choose from over 600 photos otherwise you’d be overdosed on my photos!) I’m going to go into this year feeling confident, new start and all that, and hopefully it won’t be another year until I go back there again. If you want a nosey at what a brought, take a look at my previous post!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely summer too?
