The Dancer Project…

21 Feb

 Hello,

So I asked a few of you if you wanted to see some more dance related posts and you said yes so hope you like this post.

So the other day my friend Lauren (her blog is brill & very dance if you are into that) took me and another Lauren (another brill blog and it’s new, so go follow her) around out town to take pictures for her art project. The project is based on pictures by ‘The Dancers Among us’ and ‘The Ballerina Project’ which are really cool picture projects that put dancers in normal situations. If you are a dancer, give them a Google. 😉 We live in a small town and not New York so the pictures don’t look as impressive as the city shots but I still think they came out pretty great. One thing I learnt from this shot was that doing pointe on wet grass/ on a bench/ on a swing/ on a tree/ tree stump is very hard, in a lot of the grass pictures I am sinking with horrible feet and legs. Please ignore them.

We went up to the park and then to the library because, why not? A pair of caked in mud pointe shoes and ballet shoes, and mud splattered tights later these were the results after we spent a day freezing our buns off. (Do you get it? Buns. Butts.)

The TMI Tag…

20 Feb

Hello lovelies,

I’ve been waiting to do this tag for a while now and when my main gal Kavi, from Kavichick2000, tagged me to do the TMI tag, I felt the urge to do a back flip for joy. (Course I didn’t do that. But sometimes I wish I could.) Her blog is perfect, and she’s my best blogging chum so go check out her blog if you haven’t had a look before.

Shocked Kitten

1. What are you wearing? Underwear, a lamb onesie and some pink fluffy socks, because I’ve just got in from a day of modelling ballet for my friend Lauren’s art project at the park. It was bloomn’ freezing today and wet, so I needed to warm up and get out my leotard.

Do something Good Today…

19 Feb

Hello lovelies,

I was scrolling through Tumblr where I saw Unicef’s Tap Project and just had to share it with you all because it is so easy for you all to get involved to do something good today.

Unicef is a charity and this project makes you think take what is essential in your life and go without it, your phone. For a lot of us, including myself, our phone is our life, I blog from it, I tweet, I text, I scroll so much my thumbs growing muscles, to us our phone is a big part of our lives. But for a lot of people in the world they have to survive without something that it is a lot more essential to live, water. Everyday thousands millions of children across the go without clean water, but the question Unicef asks us is how long we can go without something less vital and by doing this donating clean water to people who really need it to live.

For every minute you don’t move or touch your phone, Unicef’s Next Generation will make a donation that can help Unicef provide one day of clean water for a child in need supported by Giorgio Armani.

It is so, so easy to do, all you need to do is go to uniceftapproject.org ON YOUR PHONE (That bit is very important that’s why I put it in bold and in caps.) Then follow the instructions, by putting your phone down on a flat surface, press begin, lock your phone when the timer starts and LEAVE YOUR PHONE (If you touch it the timer will stop) The longer you leave it, the more days of water will be provided for someone who really needs it. Even by leaving your phone for a minute will make a bit difference to someones life.

What I have done is when I get up, I start the timer and leave it while I eat breakfast, have a shower and get ready, which is half an hour at the least where I wouldn’t be on my phone anyway, and then I can start the day knowing that I have done something good to start my day, and that is always a good feeling. But if you find it super hard to leave your phone alone, leave the timer running when you are asleep, because then you get hours of raising money with no temptation at all.

I really hope you go and help some people who really need it, with very little effort needed to do so. Where ever you are in the world, anyone can join in to help others in need.

Put down your phone and save a life.

See you all soon,

Maisie x

Some Little Blog Changes…

12 Feb

Hello lovely ones,

So after having this blog for 3 years and with some help from the lovely Beth (Beauty in Beta if you don’t know her, where have you been?) it was time to give my blog a bit of a make-over. I know a lot of you don’t actually click onto my page a lot as you read by e-mail, or on the WordPress dashboard, I would share the changes I made with you in a little blog post.

 Header/ Logo

cropped-high-streetspy.jpg

Firstly I made a logo/ header for my blog which was way overdue, I made it using Pic Monkey which is really simple to use if you were thinking about making one too. It’s not the most impressive thing in the world, but it just makes my blog look professional and gives it an identity, it also includes my little strap line which is pretty snazzy. I will probably end up changing it or getting someone to do it for me who will take more than 5 minutes to work on it, but I’m happy with it for now, and also a lot of you said my old bulky header didn’t match the background or my blog, so I hope you all like this one a lot more.

Background

blog background

I found this background and instantly loved it because the pink of the flowers fit in with the background and the pink of my blog theme. My blog has become really vintage, and it is reflecting me more and more. After having my pink, sparkly background for goodness knows how long, it’s nice to have a fresh new summery background.

Twitter

twitter

I connected my blog to my twitter a while, not a lot to say about this really apart from follow me if you wish. @HighStreetSpy_

Disclaimer

disclaimer

I get the odd e-mails from brands, which I love to get, but sometimes they are totally random so I thought I’d add a disclaimer page so it let’s people know what sort of posts I like to do, and the ones I probably won’t do.

Categories

categories

I used to be a completely unorganized blogger, my blog posts just went into cyberspace, un-categorized, like loose bits of cyber space paper, but now I have taken control and placed mostly all my posts into categories. So if you want to blog stalk a certain category, it will be so much easier for you now. You’re welcome.

Thank you for everyone who took my survey and gave me feedback on my blog, it was really helpful in order to improve my blog. I hope you all like the ‘new look’ High Street Spy, and I will be taking all your other thoughts into consideration, because I like to make my readers happy, otherwise there is no blog!

See you soon,

What I Brought Myself for Valentines…

8 Feb

Hello lovelies,

So yes, I decided to do a valentines post. After um-ing and ahh-ing over whether I actually wanted to to anything for Valentines, I decided I would but only because I have some bits and bobs to share with you all. Personally valentines day is great when your all disgustingly loved up, but when you’re not, you sort of it on the sidelines of the ‘love bubble’ feeling slightly bitter about the whole thing, secretly wishing you were part of it. (Or is that just me?) Personally I’m not completely for valentines day, I mean, if you love someone, you should show them you love them all year round and celebrate that love all year not just once a year, but then again this might just be me being bitter over the whole thing again.

Anyway, if you are in a relationship or not, you can still read my blog. 😉 So because I am a single pringle (other crisps are available), I decided to buy some presents for myself, not intentionally but I thought it fitted the post nicely, so let’s pretend they were especially for valentines.

5 out of 6 of the things I brought online. I know, not a big deal especially for an internet obsessed like myself, but I’ve always been scared of buying clothes online especially. Unless you’ve tried them on in the store firstly, it’s like playing clothes roulette. Am I a 8 or a 10? What if it’s too short? Then you have to wait for it to come, before realising you have been way too optimistic with your sizing! But luckily, all the times I’ve ordered anything online, nothing has had to be sent back. Oh’ and is it just me that gets slightly nervous when you get to entering the card details bit?

Boohoo.com Laura Checked Collar Print Dress~ £18

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When I stumbled across this on the Boohoo.com website, I really loved it, the collar and the monochrome tartan print. I was actually just going to buy one of the Boohoo dresses, which was probably going to be the daisy print one, but I’m glad I got this one because monochrome never goes out of fashion. I am going to wear this next week, with tights and black heeled boots when I go out for a meal and then to the theatre with my Nannie. But hopefully this dress will see me through until the summer, as I can wear it without tights when it warms up.

Boohoo.com Delia Daisy Print Shift Dress~ £18

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Shift dresses are in at the moment, so I thought I’d invest in it for spring/summer, the fabric itself is sheer and lightweight, so it will be perfect with sandals in the summer. The print is really individual and it just hangs really nicely, that can be dressed up too. I am really impressed the quality and considering I only ordered it yesterday night, the service is equally as fabulous.

Topshop Midi Ring~ £3

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’ve wanted a midi ring for a while now, so when I saw this in the sale I had to pick it up, but after wearing it as a midi I’ve realised I find them half way up my finger pretty annoying. So I wear it as a pinky ring instead, but I still love the vintage style design of this ring.

Stephanie Ever After Bow~ £5

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Okay, this is isn’t a recent purchase but it’s sort of valentines theme right? When I stumbled across this hair accessory brand on Etsy, I fell in love with it. Over the Christmas period I wore it basically everyday, and just made any hair do 100% better. She has brought out an equally gorgeous and sparkly valentines range, and she also sells the best flower crowns you can just tell are made with love. I totally recommend you go and check this boutique on Etsy.

Plume Leotard~ £9.95

Plume Ballet Tights (in pink)~ £3.95

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Both these items are from dancedirect.com, a go to website for all dancer looking for a bargain. This items are essentials for me because I’ve been borrowing my friend Lauren’s leotard and tights for weeks now, so now she gets a new pair of tights too. 😉 (Correction, she doesn’t. I only ordered one pair. Opps. Sorry Lauren.)

Hope you all liked the presents I brought for myself to make up for receiving nothing this year. Oh’ and if you aren’t in the sickening bubble known as love, you can be my valentine? 😉

Love

The Unlimited Budget Haul…

2 Feb

Hello and welcome to another Sunday Post!

By the title of this post you might be like, ‘whattttt, Maisie had an unlimited amount of money to go shopping with!” Well, no I didn’t but I really wish I did, instead I pretended I had unlimited money and did a bit of online shopping to see what I would buy with an ‘unlimited’ budget. So I guess it’s more of a wish list, but I called it a haul because we are pretending, and pretending is fun right? Also all the things I have included are not exactly, ‘high street’ items like I would usually blog about, because I have an unlimited pretend budget I wanted to show you all the high end products I would buy in my dreams.

Also I thought this could be a kind of a tag also, so if you want to use this post and do your own unlimited budget haul, just steal it, and comment below the link to your post so I can see what you would buy, because I am tagging everyone who is reading this.

*Dior Addict Gloss

*Ted Baker Bag

*Benefit Pore-fessional Primer

*Levi Denim Jacket

This is a small selection of the things I would buy if I had an unlimited budget, because I would go crazy if I really did have that much money to spend and buy a whole shopping centre for myself and a car to go around it in.

What would be the top of your list if you had an unlimited budget? Would you go to Boots first or are you more of a clothes, bag, and shoe person? Also remember to comment your post if you do it too.

See you soon,

Maisie x
