So, Today is My 16th Birthday…

28 Dec

Hello there beauties,

Now you are probably thinking why I’m writing on my birthday, but here’s a secret, I’m actually writing this days before my birthday and I have scheduled it to be up on the 28th. (Savvy, I know 😉 )

At this point I haven’t got a clue what I am doing today, my mum has been saying for ages that there’s going to e a surprise, but I have no idea. (Hoping it will be my wedding to Harry Styles seeing that it’s legal? But I have a tiny suspicion it won’t be that.)

So for a while I wanted to do a post on my birthday, but wasn’t sure what I really wanted to do? Then I had an idea from the film 16 Wishes, which is a really cheesy Disney film where throughout her life she writes down 16 wishes that she wants to come true on her 16th birthday, and basically to sum it up she gets all her wishes granted including the one where she wants to be an adult, but when she gets this, she just wants to be 16 again. (You don’t have to even watch it now 😉 ) So basically I thought I would write down 16 highlights of my life so far, and then 16 wishes for my future, sound good to you? (I hope you answered yes, otherwise this is slightly awkward…)

sweet 16

Christmas Nails…

24 Dec

Christmas is tomorrow! I REPEAT TOMORROW IS CHRISTMAS!!!!

So because it’s almost Christmas and I know a lot of you will be spending time with loved ones, so I thought I’d do a quick nail post of the varnish I am wearing for the Christmas season.

nails edit christmas

This is another Fearne nail varnish which I got in a gift set with glitter varnishes available for Boots. If you read a lot of my posts you will know I am a huge fan of her ranges that she brings out at Christmas and you never know, you might be gearing some of these in your stocking! Of course I had to choose I red because it’s this time of year and with a cheeky bit of glitter in there, what I love it you can still top coat it I get the shiny nail look as the glitter is not 3D and gritty.

christmas nail edit 2

I completely suck at nail art so I didn’t even attempt it, so I decided to use my computer editing skills to add some Christmas illustration to my nails, just to make it look a little bit more Christmassy for you all.

I used a Sally Hansen base and top coat so that the colour stick around longer without ugly chipping and to make it lovely and shiny.

I hope all my lovely readers have a wonderful Christmas full of Christmas cheer and calorific foods! I love you all and see you soon, remember you have 3 days to prepare for my birthday!

P.S I HAVE REACHED 200 BLOG FOLLOWS! As I was writing this I just got the notification to tell me, and I can not thank you enough! If you’ve been reading my blog for a few days or since the beginning, you all mean a crazy amount to me! A give-away as a cheeky thank you will be coming up in the new year. Mwah x

Fashion & Beauty Inspirations of 2013…

23 Dec

Hello my wonderfuls,

So now it’s almost the end of 2013 I thought I’d round up all the people who have inspired my fashion and beauty in 2013 for all my lovely lot. Even though I take inspiration from a lot of different people, I narrowed it down to my top 10.

Audrey Hepburn

I watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the first time this year and become completely bambozled by all things Audrey Hepburn. You know all how I love her, her style, her make-up and general grace. Within the film, she has large eyeliner flicks, which I have adopted as my ‘look’ and a lot of people ask me about my eyeliner because Miss Hepburn.

Laura Whitmore

Everything this woman wears is perfect, she never can do anything wrong in the fashion stakes, she even looks great in the jungle when she was presenting, ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here Now!’ When flicking through the gossip magazines, you are guaranteed to see this lovely lady under the best dressed.

I originally ombred my hair after seeing how lovely this lady is, in my eyes she is perfect, I love her style, her hair and make-up. I take a lot of inspiration from Zoe.

Sprinkle of Glitter

I love Louise to the moon and back, she is my favourite of all the Youtubers, with the most wonderful family too. She’s so confident in herself and is a lover of pink, just like me. She also has a weird fetish for stationary, I thought it was only me who finds joy in a new notebook. (Thank god.)

Tanya Burr

I’m not really a regular watcher of Tanya’s videos but she does teach me a lot about make-up, even if it’s not the high end brands she tends to use. I’ve mainly learnt about using eye shadows and blending them together from Tanya and also I trust her opinion on drugstore products because she is a make-up artist.

Beauty in Beta (My lovely Beth)

Now to people I know personally, I few weeks ago I stumbled across Beth’s amazing blog, and I’m so glad I did because I love it! She’s helped me so much, from buying new products, to giving me advice on how to make my blog bigger and better. She has become one of my blog envies and one of my friends, and that shirt your wearing in this picture, I want it.

Joanna Loves (Equally as lovely Joanna)

Another of my blogging favourites, her blog is also amazing and I’ve taken so many ideas from Joanna’s make-up because she is pretty pro at it. She also has given me so much advice on my blog, and I remember when you couldn’t believe I am still a teenager! Thank you very much for all your help and make-up inspiration.

Miranda Kerr

Okay, I’m not saying I look like her personally but a lot of people recently have told me I do sort of look like her, but to be honest I think it is the eyes, the dimples and skin colouring. I’ve been looking at how she does her eye make-up especially as of having similar eye shapes, so I get a bit of beauty inspiration from Miranda.

Lucy Watson

A lot of people have mixed opinions on Lucy from Made in Chelsea, but personally I really love her. I love what she wears and also her hair, if only I had the money maybe I could look like this too. 😉

Chloe Grace Moretz

I met Chloe earlier this year, and she’s a really lovely person who also dresses perfectly. It’s nice to have someone the same age as you for fashion and beauty inspiration, as you know if you can pull of a similar look to hers instead of just getting inspiration from adults. I love her achievable, simple and understated make-up and outfits that are easy to reproduce on yourself.

I hope you all liked my inspiration round up of the year.

Who would be your top 10?

See you all soon

Get To Know Me Tag: Beauty Edition…

22 Dec

Hello lovelies,

You all know how I love doing tags but I know after a while finding out random things about myself isn’t that interesting. Then I came across a load of different beauty related tags, that I will do in dribs and drabs and you are all tagged in them, so if you see one and think, ‘oh, that’s new I’d like to try that one.’ Be my guest and comment so I can read yours too.

This tag is mainly beauty related with a few fashion ones in there too, and the questions to this I found online, and I have slightly edited them to make them more relevant (these are not my questions that I made up in any shape or form.)

get to know me tag

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Very curly, actually more frizzy but basically it’s curls right?
2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I’ve never actually dyed my hair fully before, but I have ombred it twice earlier this year, using L’Oreal wild ombre kit. If I was dying my full head of hair, I would probably save up and then get it done at the salon just because I’ll feel more confident of the result. (I also then have someone to sue if needed 😉 )
3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
I tend to do wear the same style of clothes, because I’m scared if I change the way I look to much people will disapprove and I feel more confident in my own style.
4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
Well, my mum is a beautician, so I have my mani/pedi at home, but done by a beautician. But at the moment my mani I have, I did a few days ago myself.
5. How often do you change your nail polish?
Well because of school, I don’t wear nail varnish or just wear a nude pink colour that I won’t change for weeks, only repainting over chips. But in the holidays, I will change it about once a week, or whenever it starts to look all horrible.
6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
As I dance most bare foot doing contemporary, I think it’s dancer etiquette to have your toes painted, even if they are all chipped, it looks a lot nicer than naked toes.
7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
On a school day, I am able to put on my make-up (concealer, foundation, eyeliner with flick, mascara, blusher and lip gloss) in about 15 or so minutes. If I’m feeling awake, I can do it in 10, if I’m tired, it’s more like half an hour. If it’s for a night out or I’m doing eye shadow, it will probably be half an hour at least.
8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
I do my face first, I thought everyone did it this way as otherwise you might catch your eyelashes in foundation or work around eyes shadow, but maybe not? When I do smokey eyes, eye shadow does fall down your face, so I do apply a bit more face make-up but most of the time, it’s face first.
9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
As you saw in my How Much Is My Face Worth post, I am a hoarder I mean ‘collector’, because as you can see I don’t need all those products, I guess I just like choice! Since becoming a ‘blogger’ the more I have brought because I see someone loving a product on a blog I love and I go out and buy it. So yes, I am blaming you guys for how much I have.
10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
I have never worn them in my life, they look slightly too fiddly for my liking, and I never really have an occasion to wear them. But I would love to try them out sometime.
11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
It’s bad, I know but yes. The only time I don’t is when I’m ill and off school, because I know I won’t have to answer the door or anything, but if I’m at home I might not bother but if I have to leave the house, I’ll sometimes put on a light face of make-up.
12. Do you wear makeup when you’re home alone or with family?
Yes, with my close family eg my mum, dad and brother I’m cool with wearing no make-up and with my close friends but I am wearing make-up most of the time. My mum is also really into make-up, we go make-up shopping together, she does my nails, we discuss articles in Elle and recommend products to one another, so she doesn’t have a problem with me wearing make-up.
13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Nope, because you never know who you might see.
14. How many high-end products do you have?
Not a thing. I’m a drugstore gal.
15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you’re getting dressed?
Well, on non-uniform days I’ll plan it out so I know I have the clothes I want washed, but just on the day.
16. How often do you change your handbag?
Whenever I can be bothered to buy a new one, or see one I like. Not often at all.
17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
I go to bed between 10pm-ish and wake up at 6:30am on a school day, then on a weekend, I’ll wake up whenever I wake up and go to bed about 11pm.
18. How often or when do you workout?
I have dance at school basically everyday, then I go to dance company from 3:10pm until 5pm and on Friday nights I do ballet for an hour. Dance is the only exercise I do really but at the moment, I am doing nothing!
19. Left handed or right handed?
20. How tall are you?
21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
I speak a little french, as I do it for GCSE, but I’m completely pants at it, so I would never say I could ‘speak’ french.
22. How many pets do you have?
None. 😦
23. How often are you on WordPress?
When not revising, I am on here basically everyday due to having the app on my phone reading blogs, and then occasionally posting on here too.
24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
Of course, I reply to them all, even though there are never a lot, they mean the world to me, and I usually go onto their blog too and if I like what I see I’ll give them a follow.
25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
I keep a mental note to myself.
26. How did you come up with your blog name?
I made it up when I was about 13, and to be quite honest I have no idea!
27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?
28. How often do you clean your house?
This made me laugh. Do I need to say anymore?
29. What’s your favorite color?
Pink! But any pastels really.
30. Do you swear?
Now and again.
31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Watching the rest of the Nativity, and writing some more posts that will be up in the next few days.
See you all soon,
Maisie x

How Much Is My Face Worth?

22 Dec

Hello beauties,

Yes, Kavi is tagging me again! (When I told you I was going to bombard you with posts I was not lying!) I had never been tagged before with this post but when Kavi wrote her post I was really excited to do this as I had a sneaky feeling I would be tagged to do it, so thank you my lovely.

how much is my face worth edit

It took me a long time to do this because I have a lot of ‘everyday make-up’ as I never really wear the same everyday, it just depends on how I feel and how tired I am that morning, so what I’ve included in this is the make-up I wear in the day time and 90% of the time and not occasional make-up. I sat on my bedroom floor, emptying out my make-up bag  (Ted Baker) and writing down all the products I had in there, then I whipped out the laptop and did a bit of product research. So most of the products are completely price accurate, but a lot of things I could not find, probably because they no longer stock that product or it is not a well known brand, but I priced these products at what I could imagine I would pay or what I thought they were worth.

Just some of the products in my make-up bag.

Just some of the products in my make-up bag.

Okay, so when I saw that total appear on the calculator on my phone I was slightly flabbergasted, that was not what I expected as none of my make-up I considered to be expensive, as it’s all stuff I pick up from Boots or Superdrug never spending more than £10 at a time and also this is not all my make-up. Opps.

Anyway, if you want to combine a little bit of maths and make-up together, why not see how much your face is worth as I’d love to compare my ridiculous total to yours because I am tagging anyone who reads this to take part.

The Sunshine Award Tag…

20 Dec

Well, not really, but today I broke up from school for Christmas, which means I can finally blog again. Over the past few weeks I had mocks which meant loads of revision, and I also dance way more than I really should be, leaving me no time to blog at all. To be honest I know it will take me a long time to build up my reads again after being completely absent, so please like this if you are reading so I know you are reading this.

Even though it is slightly chilly outside I will be doing the Sunshine Tag I have never done before, because I was tagged by my lovely blogging friend, Kavi (you can check out her blog and read her post here) I really like tags because I get to answer questions like I’m famous and I quite like that.

11 facts about me…

1) I suck at wrapping presents

2) I hate confrontation

3) I am the worst singer in the world

4) One of my biggest regrets is not perusing dance enough to make it my career

5) I wish I could live on an island with everyone from blog land and we could spend the say sniffing perfume samples, swatching and  blogging. (There would obviously have to be a strong wifi signal)

6) I go through stages where I loath and then love my hair

7) I’m forever wishing I had more money

9) It’s my 16th birthday on the 28th of December

10) A lot of  bloggers actually think I’m older than I am

11) I want to travel the world

Now for some questions…

1. What inspired you to start your blog?

I was about 13, and I read an article in Shout magazine about blogging, back then WordPress was a very small site with literally no bloggers online but I found this the easiest thing to work out because I was pants with computers. I did loads of research first of course being me, and I just blogged to literally no one, because somehow I decided fashion blogging was the thing for me, then I gave up. But then I came back.

2. What’s the best beauty advice you ever got?

Probably how to do winged eyeliner, I used to find liquid eyeliner completely impossible, then I YouTubed how to do it, and after watching a few tutorials and a lot of practice, and my eyeballs burning out due to having liquid eyeliner in my eyes, I can now do it.

3. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I love the idea of basically everywhere, but I really want to go to Paris, or Sydney, or New York, or Bora Bora. Too many places to name.

4. What one beauty product can’t you live without?

Probably my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer or Maybelline Falsies Mascara

5. Do you have any pets?

No 😦

6. Do you prefer going out or spending a low-key night at home?

Night in, because I’m too lazy to go out. I’m a onesie wearing, blog scrolling, chocolate binge eating kind of teenage girl.

7. What’s the best meal you ever had?

Once I was in Portsmouth with my family a few years ago and I had this amazing pasta dish, don’t know where it was or what it was but all I remember is that is was food heaven.

8. What is your favorite skincare product?

Just a Simple moisturizer or cleanser.

9. Who’s your favorite YouTube Beauty Guru?

Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) is my inspiration, her blog and YouTube channel are what I aspire to have when I’m older, and even though she is not the most subscribed of  all the YouTuber, I just think she is such an inspiration. She’s talented, funny, beautiful and has the most beautiful daughter in the world. If I can be like her when I am older I will be very happy.

10. What’s your favourite makeup look?

Gold/ brown, metallic smokey eye look eye shadow, with a cat eye flick in black, and a browny lining under the eyes. Then with big eyelashes, and the just simple face make-up and a pink lip.

11. In the last week, name one thing that made you smile?

We were sitting to be let out of our textiles exam, and my friend Katie was sitting on the desk next to mine, she went to put her head down on the desk and misjudged how far away the table was and banged her head really hard on it. She didn’t find it as funny as me though. Highlight of the mock weeks right there, so thank you Katie for making me smile on a completely pants week.

Because it’s Christmas and I think I’ve nominated you all at some point or another, I am nominating you all if you want to join in with this tag.

Thanks for reading.

My ‘Tumblr’ Bedroom…

7 Dec

Hello my lovely lot,

So basically I have been absent from this blog for a while because of school, in the next two weeks I have mock exams and last week I had a French writing to revise for all weekend. I also had a dance show last week with my dance company, so I danced every day and night, ended the week with a crazy Friday night at ballet! (Crazy teenager right here! Watch out.) I won’t be able to blog much which I hate but when I break up for Christmas I shall bombard you with blog posts and maybe I’ll get to 200 follows before my birthday? (28th of December, just so you know, I will be accepting gifts 😉 )

So I am not hipster in any way and my bedroom isn’t actually on Tumblr, but I do have Tumblr, so if you want it give me a follow click here. The title of this blog basically came from when Lauren came round before the dance show so we could get ready and I could do her make-up for her, when Lauren came into my room she said, ‘Your room looks likes like one of those bedrooms on Tumblr.’ So that is where the blog title came from, and also the first ever decor related post I have ever done on here. Recently I’ve had my room sort of re-done, which is all my own work and choices, so I took a few pictures to share with you.

*Disclaimer: Being a lazy teenager I didn’t dust my bedroom before taking these pictures, but Tumblr bedrooms have dust right? 😉 Also I am not writing this as a promo for Next, I just have a lot of Next home wear as I love their ranges.*

Elle magazine kindly chose their cover to match my room.

Elle magazine kindly chose their cover to match my room.

Some of the magazine selections in my room, Event from the Daily Mail just because it had One Direction in, Closer magazine for my gossip fix and not the latest issue of Elle, one of my favourite fashion publications. This issue was extremely kind because it matches my room perfectly and came with a free Benefit lip gloss.

Tiny purple alarm clock, Taylor Swift Love Struck Perfume and two vintage jars from Next.

Tiny purple alarm clock, Taylor Swift Love Struck Perfume and two vintage jars from Next.

These jars are the latest addition to my room that my mum picked up from Next recently, I really love them and are perfect for storing all my hair bobbles and bobby pins that drive my family nuts, and cotton buds in the larger one. I also have Taylor Swift Wonderstruck which I actually got last Christmas I think, and I still have quite a bit left in there. The tiny purple alarm clock I’ve had for a while, but I can’t remember where I got it from, sorry.

Tea and sully in a bobble hat. What's not to love about this?

Tea and sully in a bobble hat. What’s not to love about this?

Yep, that’s a slightly stained Sully from Monsters Inc. (that I have actually owned since the first film came out) wearing a bobble hat that is from an Innocent Smoothie, and a mat that my friend Olivia got me from a holiday as I am a big lover of tea. My room has sort of become things I have collected over the years, that are also happen to be turquoise and purples.

Love some florals

Love some florals

This floral frame is also from Next got as a present a few years ago. I love mirror finish to it even if you can see it is slightly dusty!

Oh balls.

Oh balls.

Some windowsill bits and bobs, the front paper weight is something I won, the dark purple bubble paper weight is from Ikea and the back pink candle holder is from Next.

No. I am not obsessed with post it notes.

No. I am not obsessed with post it notes.

I love this shape post it note because they are the best for revising from, which is actually what is on them currently. That highlighter got some looks of envy from fellow students in my English class, because it is flower shaped and has all the highlighter colours. Yeah I know, you’re jealous right? I got it as a freebie from Move It dance convention earlier this year.

Bling Bling

Bling Bling

This jewellery tree used to belong to my Great Grandma and it is one of my favourite items. Under all those earrings is a purple/ pink floral pattern.

'Here's another song for the radio...'

‘Here’s another song for the radio…’

I am a lover of radio and a few years ago I got my hands on this beautiful vintage Roberts radio. It’s a bit pricey but you get DAB and FM radio along with other funky settings, the sound quality is also amazing.

No... That's not dust...

No… That’s not dust…

I’ve had this glass bubble lamp for a long time now and yes, it’s from Next again.

Love me some bling

Blingy Wardrobes

Blingy Wardrobes

I’ve recently had my wardrobe extended to a double and a half size, and also a new built in dressing table, and this is what they look like. They are by Hammonds Wardobes if you were wondering. (Fun fact: This is the same wardrobe designs used in the film Kick Ass 2.)

Got to love the scatter cushions.

Got to love the scatter cushions.

All of the cushions are from Next from over the years, and the bedding, which you may recognize as the background of my blog photos, is from John Lewis.

Ohhh’ more florals

Another print from Next I have had for a while, it’s a large floral back print and them another floral design over the top of it.

I'm an artist.

I’m an artist.

This is the stone I use as my doorstop, I painted it in year 3 and as you can tell I can paint dolphins (yes, that’s what it is) very well. I will be taking orders very soon. 😉

Look there's more!

Look there’s more!

These Post-It notes are revision notes for Textiles, I need to revise it and these are only pattern symbols so I have a lot more of these to write up.

I hope you liked a little sneaky look at my ‘tumblr’ bedroom named by Lauren. If you like these sort of decor posts give it a like. I hope you all missed me in my absence. I will be giving my blog a make-over this weekend so make-sure you have a look at that, and hopefully a collab coming up before Christmas.
