See You Later Blogging…

21 Jan

My wonderful readers,

I guess I’m not really sure how to start this off, or if there is anyone left to read this but here goes.

This post may be one I regret tomorrow, because I’m feeling over emotional and stressed, as well as the fact Zac Efron is serenading me with an emotional HSM ballad, but right now I feel I need to write this. Ever since I started sixth form I neglected this site, which I have worked bloomn’ on this, from improving my writing, so working on the general appearance on this page and I still come back to have a little look, just to check it’s still there. Of course it is, but I’m not which upsets me quite a bit.

I feel I’ve used my work load as a bit of excuse for me not actually doing what I love, because I used to love writing what I wanted to write about, despite what people used to say and joke about which still gets to me months and years later, spending time to take and edit my photos, and then reading comments, feedback, advice. It used to make me so happy, preparing posts, posting and waiting at my computer for my first like or comment. Then I kind of lost it all. I lost my love and motivation and every time I tried to express something within a post, I couldn’t or in my opinion it was shit, and I was shit. I know I’m not the best writer in the world, I know I’m not, but I tried so hard and then it was all gone.

I didn’t want to publish anything anymore because it wasn’t worth your time to read, it wasn’t funny, or witty or informative, it seemed false and was extracted from nothing. I must have about 30 posts written, but couldn’t finish let alone publish them. I guess I felt I needed a break or time out from writing, but then I started school and work got so much, and I took a class that made me loose all my confidence. I still think, ‘how can I be a writer if I’m failing English?’ So all of a sudden what I liked to do became a chore and a huge weight on my shoulders. My boyfriend even got be a journal for Christmas for me to write, but I’m even struggling to write about my personal thoughts.

My blog is not a huge pitty party, and I know some of you will probably be thinking, for god sake get over yourself, and if I’m honest that’s exactly what I’m thinking too. It upsets me that my camera sits in its case, and my blog is silent, and really good outfits and make-up go unappreciated. 😉

Many of my blogging friends, who I am so grateful for, ask me to write again and to you, thank you and I owe you this explanation.

When I find my love and happiness in my writing, and confidence in my ability, I will be back.

But for now this is kind of a, ‘see you later.’ Just for a little while longer anyway.

Love always,

The always over dramatic,

Maisie x

Being a Teenage Feminist… |High Street Spy|

8 Nov

Hello readers,

So I have been gone for a hell of a long time, and come back to see that I’ve been the proud owner of this blog for 3 years. Whatttttt. It’s so weird to think that what 13 year old Maisie started many moons ago, is still be continued (give or take) by 16 year old Maisie. So much has changed in that time, and I hope that Maisie will be proud of what this Maisie has achieved.

So, my favourite types of posts are ones that have some substance. Of course I love a tag or a haul, and I will always do them and read them, but posts with substance and voice are what I love more than anything and looking at the stats it appears that they are also popular with my readers. I also love a discussion, which is always my aim when I write posts like this.

Oh’ look. I started my post with a ramble again.

The other day I picked up my favourite magazine in the world, Elle, to see that this was the feminism issue with the beautiful, inspiring Emma Watson on the cover, which excited me a lot. (There was also a free Benefit product, so in my eyes this issue was perfection before I’d even opened it up!) Then I had the idea, for my first post back from my very long departure from the internet, I would share my own views and experiences because I would consider myself a feminist.

Okay, so I’m only 16, with very little experience of the world really. I’ve never had a proper job, I’m still in full time study, and am yet to venture into the ‘real world’, but despite all of that I would very much consider myself a feminist. Maybe as little as 2 years ago I would dispute the fact I was a feminist, if asked I would probably reply no; that would be because I thought feminism was a specific person, which I believed I didn’t fit me. I was into fashion, and wore make-up everyday, I also was very quiet and not at all confident in myself. Of course now I know that feminists are not a specific person with a specific look or personality, but in fact they are people united under the same idea that men and women are in fact equal, even though it common to think that feminism is women claiming they are better than men, which is totally not true.

*Source Google*

I think my love for feminism came from many different places. One of which is Tumblr, which is one of the many loves of my life. I found myself following the blogs of feminist people, and taking time to read text posts, and watch videos that explained feminism, and thinking to myself, ‘that is not right.’ ‘I agree with that.’Another is the news, and Youtube, and just hearing my friends discuss it, and after a while I came to the conclusion that I to, am very much a feminist.

*Source Google*

Being a teenager means that I have come under very little discrimination as a woman, the only one I can really say as an example is how much of a ‘girly girl’ people consider me to be like I have nothing more going on than my winged eyeliner and my love for fashion, I also love to sew which of course is considered a very girly thing to do. I think school is still pressured for pupils, girls take these classes, boys do these subjects, so when I see a boy take walk into textiles class, I applaud their bravery to do what they want to do instead of not taking it because of  the view that ‘sewing is for girls’ and hope they do amazing.

*Source Elle*

I believe that teenagers should really consider feminism, because although we may not believe that we are subject to gender inequality right now, sharing the message of feminism means that when we do get into the ‘real world’, it will be a better place, where we won’t ever have to face the inequality that is very real all over the world that women are facing. We will receive the same pay as our male colleagues for the same work, we can go into the work world, with high aspirations and not be seen as weaker because we are a woman,  we can wear less clothes in summer because we are hot, not because we are trying to sexual ourselves, our sons and daughters can take whatever classes they want, and wear what they want without the fear of ridicule because they don’t fit into a specific group, we will not hear horrific stories about rape, arranged marriage or women putting themselves in danger, just because they want an education or rights. I am a feminist now, because I want other people my age to not view feminism as a person, but as the idea, which is not only a bloomn’ fantastic one, but one that is ultimately the correct one. And if you don’t agree with the the idea that woman should have an equal chance in life, but also that men should not be stereotyped. If you don’t agree with equality, what is wrong with you?

I think over the years feminism is confused with the view that feminists are women that are man hating, I can safely say I am not a man hater! 😉 But also men can be feminists too, and these men, in my opinion are super cool. I was so inspired by the women that were featured within Elle, and one day I hope to inspire other 16 year old teenagers like myself, freaking out about life needing a bit of encouragement. Good job Elle, I’m yet to read all the magazine but it is already my favourite issue ever.

Please let me know your experiences of feminism, and if you are a teenager like me, what your opinions of it all is?

See you soon,

Maisie x

Oi Maisie! Where Have You Been? |High Street Spy|

15 Sep

Hello my lovely, lovely readers,

Yes, I am still alive, but I have been absent from this page for a hell of a long time! For a while I’ve been doing 2 posts a week pretty well, even publishing guest posts while I was away on holiday, and then I have just stopped, so I hope you all remember who I am?

So I wasn’t sure whether to do a post like this, even though it’s just a load of shitty excuses and I promise I am not looking for sympathy, it’s just that a lot of you readers are more of friends and I asked you all on twitter, so I feel I should share with you all why I’ve been gone for a while now.

Okay, so it’s not that I haven’t written anything, I’ve written about 4 posts now, but I just didn’t want to post them because they were rubbish, even though I’ve posted things on here which I didn’t think were that amazing, these ones were just not up to standard and to be honest a bit boring. I wasn’t enjoying writing them at all and you could tell in my writing, I felt when I read them you could tell I was not enjoying them and I was writing any old rubbish just to fill a post and get it published. I tried again, starting a new post, and the same again, writing mediocre posts that I was forcing myself to write and you are choosing to use your time to read my posts so I feel if I’m taking some of your time, I want to give you something worth wasting your time over, not just a complete waste of time.

I’m not sure if I’ve lost my love for writing, or I’m just having a bit of a writer’s block (here’s hoping it’s a block.) I don’t hate writing at all, I’m pretty proud of how this blog is growing and growing, and I obviously love all the great friends I have made writing this, and reading other amazing blogs. Even though I haven’t been writing, I’ve still been reading all of your fantastic blogs. I’m still watching duh duh duh 😉 I’ve also had a spurt of pretty bad anxiety and what not, blame it on starting sixth form! But each time I do it kind of knocks my confidence in everything and it takes a while to build it back up and get back to doing what I love. So many of you have offered guest posts, but with 2 already up, I would feel like I was taking advantage to take these from you and would make me seem like a rubbish blogger, so I feel my next post needs to be written by me, and so far it’s taken me a long time to write that post.

I guess I need to get my head back to normal, get out of this sticky patch and trust me I will be back. (Hopefully better than ever, but I’m not making any promises 😉 ) I may even end up posting the posts I deemed as completely rubbish, obviously with quite a lot of editing to take the boring tone off it and you guys might end up loving them. Thank you for all my followers still being here, and weirdly going up still. As I am writing this I am just under 20 followers from 400 followers. Which mean my blog has grown in stats so quickly over the past few months, 1) This average blog with a funny name written by an average teenager  doesn’t deserve them and 2) That is completely crazy so thank you so much!

I hope you all can understand my absence from my blog for a bit. This is definitely not goodbye, it’s more of a see you later, and I promise I will be back very soon and I bloomn’ hope it is worth the wait! ❤

See you soon,

Maisie x

P.S Thank you to all my blogging and real life friends for all your support and love. You are all very special people who I love very much. xxx

Guest Post: Back To School Make-up…|High Street Spy|

1 Sep

Hi everyone,

I’m Sofia, from Sunflower Style Blog and today I will be guest posting for Maisie! Whether we like it or not, a lot of us are going back to school. But, not everything has to be bad. Back to school also means cute outfits, hair, and makeup! Today, I have a cute back to school makeup look for you all! This look is really cute, and not very time consuming, which is perfect for mornings where we’re rushing out the door! On to the makeup look!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

To start with, I primed my face with the Maybelline instant pore eraser. Then, using a makeup sponge, I applied the Maybelline dream fresh, bb cream. This bb cream, offers light/medium coverage, so it is perfect for days where you don’t want to wear too much makeup (I’m in the shade light). After that, I concealed my under eye circles with the Maybelline dream lumi touch concealer in the shade 02 nude. This concealer is flawless! Not only does it give great coverage, but it also highlights. I set all of that with the Revlon colorstay pressed powder (in the light/medium color). Applying powder will guarantee that your makeup lasts longer. I also recommend keeping one in your purse/ backpack for quick touch ups. To keep my eyebrows in place, I used the Maybelline great lash in clear. For eyeshadow, I used my Urban Decay naked basics palette. On my lids, I used the color Venus, and on my crease I used the color faint. To top it off, I wore the Covergirl clump crusher mascara in very black, and the Maybelline color whisper in petal rebel.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

This look is very natural, and perfect for long school days. This is a look that I would personally wear for school, but unfortunately we can’t wear makeup at my school. I really enjoyed writing this post for you all, and I hope you liked it!

Guest Post: Revlon Balm Stain Review|High Street Spy|

27 Aug

Hello to all of Maisie’s followers!

My name is Simone, and I’m here today as a guest writer while Maisie is away on holiday! My blog is simytoe.wordpress.com if you’re interested, and you can find me on twitter under the handle @simytoe.

Anyways, enough self promo – onto my post! Since both Maisie and I are lip product addicts (as proven by her Lip Product Addict Tag and her Top 5 Spring Lipsticks) I thought it would be fitting if I did a post about a lip product. I’ve recently picked up a few lip crayons from Revlon, so I’m going to do a little review on their Balm Stain line! I’ve also tried their Matte and Lacquer versions, but the Balm Stains are definitely my favourite!

revlon 1

So last fall I picked up Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable balm stain in 025 Sweetheart, and then last week I picked up Revlon’s Colorburst balm stain in 001 Honey. I’m not really sure why one is ‘Just Bitten Kissable’ and one is ‘Colorburst’, as they seem to be the same product to me. Sweetheart is a really bright pink while Honey is a darker, more natural looking pink.

revlon 2revlon 3

*001 Honey *

I really like lip crayons in general because of their easy application, and these ones are no exception. They go on really smoothly like a lip balm, and aren’t sticky or anything. Also they taste slightly minty which is a major bonus, for me anyways 😉 Since they are a ‘stain’, they are quite long lasting, and you don’t have to worry about all of your lip colour coming off when you’re eating.

One of my main concerns when it comes to lip products is how hydrating they are. I have incredibly dry lips that peel and bleed really easily and I find that with a lot of lipsticks my lips will be peeling within an hour of putting them on (gross, I know). However I have been really impressed with these balm stains by Revlon. They’re fairly hydrating when you put them on, and if I reapply every half hour or so my lips don’t dry out at all. I guess that’s the ‘balm’ part of ‘balm stain’! I’ve had days where I’ve forgotten to bring a lip chap with me, and have had to use one of these lip crayons instead, and my lips were completely fine!

revlon 4revlon 5

*025 Sweetheart*

Onto the colours that I got. I love love love Sweetheart because it’s so bright and fun! I don’t usually spend a lot of time doing my makeup, and I think that putting a bold lip colour on is a great way to look put together without a lot of time or effort. And especially since I don’t usually wear lipstick or lipgloss as they ruin my lips, when I do wear them I like going for a more dramatic look. However, with Honey, I can opt for a more subtle, neutral look, without sacrificing my lips, and I’ve found myself reaching for it a lot since I’ve gotten it. It’s kind of my perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade, so it adds a bit of colour and shine but isn’t too dressed up for just wearing around the house.

Overall I think I’d give these lip crayons a 4.5/5. The colours are gorgeous, they last forever, they’re easy to put on, and they’re hydrating! Have you guys ever tried any of Revlon’s lip crayons? Or have you tried any other really good lip crayons that you’d recommend? I’m sure both Maisie and I would love to hear about them in the comments 😉

Thanks for reading!

Summer Day to Night Face of the Day…

20 Aug

Hello my lovely readers,

Tomorrow I get my GCSE results and to say I’m nervous is an understatement, I think its because I’ve had the longest ever summer to think (over think) about the exams and also the results I want to get, for some of my favourite and most important subjects I’ve set myself what I want to get which is making me more and more nervous about it all.

So to take my mind of it, I caked myself in some make-up, and put together a glowy/ summer look, and pretend that summer is not nearing its end at all, as I’m going on holiday soon so it will be a look I will probably wear on holiday. I’m a pretty lazy person and ‘freshening up’ is not really something I can be bothered to do, so I tend to put on the make-up I want to wear in the evening, in the morning and maybe touch it up a little bit before I go out. So here is my holiday, lazy girl, day to night look.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

*Collecting Lasting Perfection Concealer

I pop this under my eyes into a V shape, and on any redness/ blemishes, blending with a concealer brush from Primark or my Real Techniques foundation brush.

*Maybelline Brow Drama

This is a pretty good dupe for the Benefit Gimme’ Brow, and you also get a lot more product than the Benefit one too. I have mine in a brown colouring, so it also adds a bit of definition to your brows without it looking too OTT and filled in. So if you don’t like your eyebrows to be filled in but want a product to add some colour and keep them in shape, I would highly recommend this. I normally brush this through my brows after I’ve filled them in, or I just use this if I want more of a natural look.

*The Body Shop All-In-One InstaBlur

I mainly pop this on my T-Zone and on my cheeks, in order to make my make-up go on nicer and also so my make-up lasts all day, so you can wear your make-up into the evening without having to re-do face make-up too much.

*The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream

I’m not completely sure if I love this but I do think it gives you a really natural look, and just adds a little bit of coverage without it being too heavy. Even though it’s meant to adapt to your skin colour and I do have it in colour 02, I find it is slightly too pale on my skin so I always have to bronze my face when I use it.

*17 Eyes Neutral Trio

I love the look all the colours in this trio make together, but to create my current favourite look, I just use the pearly pink toned shadow all over my lids and use the white toned shadow in the inner corners of my eyes.

*Rimmel Quad

These eye shadows also create a lovely look together, but I use the second darkest brown shimmer on the outer corners of my eyes and through the crease, then blend to make more of a natural smokey eye look.

*L’Oreal Super Liner, Black Buster

This is a bit of a re-discovered product for me, as I used it once and decided I hated it, then decided to try it again and now love it! Weird. It’s a felt tip style liner, which some people believe are easier, but I for some reason always found liquid easier to create a cat eye. But after trying this liner again, its super easy to use and creates a really easy flick, and doesn’t rub off easily.

*Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

Maybelline mascaras will always be my favourite, and this one gets all your lashes and makes a really natural lashes.

*Sleek Contouring Kit

I use this to contour my cheek bones, my forehead, and along the bridge of my nose, all the places on your face that your face would tan to make a natural sun kissed look, but also to make my face look less dead and pale after using the BB cream.

*Soap and Glory Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Fuscia-Ristic

If you have not yet tried these gloss sticks, then get yourself to Boots and pick some up ASAP! Even though most people just rave about the colour ‘Nudist’, which is a lovely colour, my favourite since Christmas is the colour ‘Fuscia-Ristic’, which is a really pretty pink colour, which can be built up or worn as a really natural colour to brighten up your face.

Oh’ and guess what? I forgot to take a photo of the finished look. Bum. Just imagine I look amazing in it or try this look out for yourself.

See you soon,

Maisie x

P.S If any of you would pretty please guest post for me when I’m on holiday, I would really appreciate it, so please drop me an e-mail or leave me a comment. Thanks xxx

Liebster Award Tag… |High Street Spy|

17 Aug

Hello readers,

It’s been a while since I’ve done this tag, since I am now (crazy to say) way over 200 followers, which I believe is one of the rules of this tag, but when I was nominated by Laurella  from The Silver Linings of Life  (go have a cheeky look at her blog btw) it would be rude of me not to accept her lovely questions for me and carry on the tag, as it means a lot to me when people nominate my blog to continue on tags.

Oh’ yeah, there are some rules to this tag which are:

*You must answer 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.

*You must list 11 random/fun facts about yourself.

*You must pick 11 nominees with under 200 (ish) followers to answer your questions. (I might break this rule so sorry Liebster Award)

*You cannot nominate the person who nominated you.

*You must let the person you’ve nominated know that they’ve been nominated.

Liebster Award

Questions From Laurella for me…

1. What is your favourite item of clothing?

Probably my shift style denim look dress with floral print on it from Dorthy Perkins. I brought it because it has that sort of vintage 1940s feel, which is my favourite era of fashion, I’m photographing a look featuring this in the coming week hopefully.

2. If you could only choose one beauty product to use for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I would pick an eyeliner, either the Miss Sporty Liquid Liner or the L’Oreal Super Liner. I feel that eyeliner just makes my eyes look bigger, especially with a flick.

3. If you could have a superpower what would it be?

Mine would be to fast forward or backwards in time, such as the time turner in Harry Potter, even though I’ve learnt from Dr Who and Harry Potter that maybe you shouldn’t mess with time. 😉

4. Do you have any secret talents?

I can do accents pretty well, my best one is probably my Australian accent, but I like to think I can do all the different American accents averagely well.

5. Celebrity crush?

Leonardo DiCaprio was a very handsome young man indeed. Or Harry Styles is equally lovely.

6. How would you describe your everyday style – (punk/hipster/cutesy)?

I would say I’m pretty girly, 90% of the time I’m in a dress, 10% of the time I’m in a hoodie and leggings.

7. What is your favourite affordable make up brand?

I own a lot of Rimmel London products but I really like Bourjois as well.

8. If you could only take one book to a desert island which would it be?

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys is my favourite book ever, I’ve read it about 5/6 times over the year and it never gets old. I am a huge lover of history based novels and films, which is what this is, but it’s based on a time in history that is usually overlooked and I knew nothing about before reading this book. I recommend it to everyone, as it’s got a perfect mix of historical fact, adventure, family love but also first love. Love it.

9. What is your favourite TV show currently?

Home and Away is my favourite soap, and New Girl is my favourite TV series.

10. If you could only wear one pair of shoes for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

My navy Converse, they are practical, comfortable and can be worn in winter and summer.

11. If you could be the opposite sex for the day, what would you do?

I would probably wiggle my ‘boy parts’ around… :’) And then play football or something.

11 Facts you probably already know about me…

1) Shout Magazine inspired me to start my Blog

2) I studied History, French, Textiles, Dance and Business, as my GCSE options, along with the core subjects.

3) I am a huge book lover

4) I recently dyed my hair ‘chocolate brown’ and it went red toned and I hated it, so very few people saw it.

5) I’ve wanted to be a Dancer, an Actress, a Forensic Scientist, an Artist, a Interior Designer, a Fashion Designer, a Writer and a Fashion Journalist, all within 16 years of my life.

6) I am completely unemotional towards most films, it takes a lot to get me to cry at a film.

7) I want to go to Disney Land again so bad

8) I have scars on the backs of my legs which I loath

9) Belle is my favourite Disney Princess because she was most like me, so I aspired to grow up like her when I was younger

10) I hated The Fault in Our Stars. Oooh’ controversial

11) I still enjoy going into Toy Shops and The Disney Store

Now for my Questions for who I Tag…

1) If you could spend an hour with a celeb, who would it be and what would you do?

2) If you could dye/ cut your hair to any style you want and price/ damage is not an obstacle, what would you do?

3) 1 main thing you want to achieve in your life?

4) Love, happiness or wealth?

5) What’s the best compliment someone has given you?

6) Who is your fashion inspiration?

7) If you could only shop from one clothes shop for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why?

8) What 3 features do you look for in a potential boyfriend/ girlfriend?

9) 3 things you love about yourself?

10) Most used app on your phone?

11) If you could meet any fellow blogger who would it be and why?

I am being a rebel and am going to tag 5 bloggers:

*Serenity Books

Maisie’s Mumbles~ Positive Thinking… |High Street Spy|

13 Aug

Hello,

So if you are a regular reader of mine you will probably know that I am very much open with my ‘private’ life on this blog, for two main reasons really, 1) because I feel it makes me more of an interesting person, and I’m not just some words on your computer screen and 2) because it helps me to write my feelings and what not down, as I am very much guilty of keeping stuff to myself and it is way easier than saying how I feel out loud. Normally these sort of posts are popular on my blog, just because I know many of you feel they can relate or comment me the loveliest of comments that just make me sharing my feelings worth while. I know these might not be everyone’s cup of tea and you may be thinking ‘oi maisie where’s the OOTD or review’ but this week it’s going to be a personal post, so maybe give this one a miss and come back on Sunday when I’ll be back to ‘normal’ posts?

So as some of you may know if you have been reading this blog for a while is I get really bad anxiety and panic attacks from time to time, and I believe the cause for it is pressure that is put upon me or put on by myself that I can’t seem to cope with. I feel at the moment I’m at a pretty good place in my life and besides the panic attack I had the other week in an Indian restaurant which makes me laugh now due to the randomness of this panic! Also, I know I promised to make You Tube videos this summer, and I’m still considering it, I promise, but I’m still feeling weirdly anxious about the idea, but I’m building up to that so watch this space! Okay, that is far too much negativity, now onto some positives that I need to share with you all. For the first time in a long time, I feel really content with where I am and it’s making me a lot more of a positive person which is great!

positive thoughts

So I thought I would write a post sharing 5 positive things in my life right now with you all. I didn’t want to make this a tag, as I didn’t want to tag specific people, but if you are reading this, it would be really cool, if you also write a post sharing 5 positive things in your life right now, and share a bit of positive attitude with your readers that I feel there isn’t enough of on the internet. However bad your day is, try to think of at least 5 good things in your life, and concentrating on them will make you feel a whole lot better, making you realise everything is going to be okay. So, if you write a post similar, please let me know in the comments so I can go give it a read.

My 5 positive things in my life right now:

1) I received a letter in the post recently from someone who means a lot to me, it was the sweetest thing and never fails to make me smile whenever I read it, making me feel extremely loved. I am a very lucky girl to have someone who cares so much about me, even though they have seen me at my worst, and knows me well enough to know that I have a weird love for letters even though I haven’t received any in years.

2) Knowing I tried my hardest I could in my GCSE exams is making me feel a lot less nervous about collecting my results next week. Wish me luck 😉

3) My little space on the internet is almost at 400 followers, and a very large amount of them never miss a post, becoming very special people in my life, who never fail to give me the best support. It’s crazy to think that over a year ago my blog didn’t even have 100 followers and the growth overall has been pretty rapid indeed.

4) Even though this summer feels to be going really quick, I have visited a lot of places and seen some awesome people, from the simple things like spending summer evenings in a field watching the sun set, to going on a camping trip with my best friend. The little things are making me happy, happy, happy.

5) I am about to go into sixth form to study Fashion & Clothing, English Lit and History, which are subjects that I take more interest in and hopefully I will enjoy. But it also means I am one step closer to achieving the goal I’ve set myself since I was 13 of becoming a fashion journalist.

I hope some of you lovely lot give this post a try as I’d love to read them!

See you soon,

Maisie x

The Reading Habits Tag… |High Street Spy|

10 Aug

Hello beauties,

So the other day my lovely friend Erin from Serenity Books tagged me to do The Reading Habits Tag, and being a big book nut I was so excited to do a tag that wasn’t about make-up or fashion, as much as I love it, it’s nice for a change.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

1. Do you have a certain place for reading at home?

I only tend to read in my bedroom, tucked up in bed at night.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

I am a random piece of paper girl, or as bad as some people might think this is, I’m also a corner turner. I tend to stuff a post it note into my books, or whatever pieces of paper I have hanging around on my dressing table such as adverts from magazines.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or a certain number of pages?

I like to stop reading at a certain point or after an event has happened or end of chapter, I can’t just stop reading in the middle of a bit, or I might leave it too long and forget what has or is happening making it slightly confusing for me!

4. Do you eat or drink when reading?

I tend to read before bed so no eating after brushing your teeth. 😉

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music whilst reading?

I don’t understand how people are able to multi-task at all let alone read or listen to music whilst reading. I’m big at imagining the story in my head whilst I’m reading and really getting into the book, so I’d find having other things going on way too distracting.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

I currently have 3 books on the go, that I have started but I’m only a few chapters into all of them and yet to decide which one I want to focus on. I also have another one that is in my pile of books I need to read this summer.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

I can only really read at home, I get distracted way too easily and I can’t read on journeys due to the really bad travel sickness I get. Yucky.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

I suck at reading out loud, so I am only ever reading in my head.

9. Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?

I am guilty at skipping chunks of books that I find boring or unimportant such as like stories characters are writing within the novel, as I like to stick to the main story line.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new?

I don’t understand how people can read a book without breaking the spine of them, all of my books have broken spines as well as scruffy corners, it shows love right? 😉 My friend Sarah has given me 2 books, and has told me that I am not to break the spines on pain of death. Wish me luck?

11. Do you write in your books?

No. It just doesn’t feel right to write in books, writing in them in English class was weird enough, I couldn’t imagine writing in books I actually liked.

12. What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading 3 books, but the most recent one I am reading is United We Spy by Ally Carter. This is the last novel in the Gallagher Girl series, which I actually started reading when I was 11 years old and was completely obsessed with it and the characters. I’m not so obsessed with it now, but feel like I need to finish off the series and also to find out what happens to the characters. I really recommend these novels if you like a light, and slightly girly read.

I tag Kavi and Lauren to have a go at this.

See you soon,

Desk Details… |High Street Spy|

6 Aug

Hello lovelies,

Sorry I’ve been socially vacant for what feels like ages, that is because I’ve been away for one week at my cousin’s, and was silly and never organised any posts, then had ‘oh shit I have nothing to write about’ moment. So yeah, this post is not a super long post or a super good one either, but it is a post so it’ll have to do just for now, so please forgive me and give this a like anyway? Thanks 😉

I thought I would give you a sneaky look at a few of the detaily bits and bobs I have on my desk/ dressing table space that I’ve recently added. Personally I love interior style posts, and love interior design which I like to do a bit of in my small bedroom, so I like to collect a few details to put on my desk to give it a more personal and homely feel.
